This is a book about the crisis of the European integration project as seen from the vantage point of people’s movements across and to the European continent. But why should the issue of refugees or of migration have anything to do with the dynamics of the integration or disintegration of the European Union? Direct democracy has become an increasingly common feature of European politics with important implications for policy‐making in the European Union. The no‐votes in referendums in France and the Netherlands in put an end to the Constitutional Treaty, and the Irish electorate caused another political crisis in Europe by rejecting the Lisbon Treaty.

European integration is at a turning point with implications for all member states and their citizens. The book examines the process of European integration and highlights issues of institutional dynamics and prospects for democracy. The process of economic integration within Europe is a highly complex and multi-faceted phenomenon. There is little doubt, however, that the European Community has made persistent efforts to.

UK Public Law & European Law: The Dynamics of Legal Integration focuses on the interaction of UK courts and European law in developing UK public law. The central thesis illuminates a trend toward better legal integration in the UK through a more open approach to the integration of domestic public law and European law. European institutional integration has gone too far, blame misguided political motivations, and assert that the monetary union has failed (for example, Feldstein ). On the other side, supporters of European integration attribute the euro crisis to institutional incompleteness— what Bergsten () called a File Size: KB.

Yet in contrast with the classical nation-states, the EU. European integration confuses citizens and scholars alike. It appears to transfer power away from national capitals towards Brussels yet a close study of the EU reveals the absence of any real leap towards supranationalism.
